Donkebab - Malaga, Spain

If you are ever in Malaga, Spain (see our review of Malaga too) and are looking for a cheap and quick, yet amazing and filling meal, Donkebab is the place for you! Donkebab is a great little fast food restaurant, located just adjacent to the Plaza de la Merced (where the great hostel, Picasso’s Corner is also located. Again, see our review of Malaga). It is just a ten minute walk from the beach and right next to an excellent shopping center, as well as a beautiful historic castle.
Donkebab’s specialty is the doner kebab. This dish is similar to the Greek gyro. It is basically spit-fired meat (chicken, pork, or beef), packed into a sort of pita bread, with vegetables and sauces included. This meal comes with fries (regular or waffle) and a drink and can be purchased with a small sum of around five Euros (roughly seven or eight dollars).
On top of the excellent food, great location, and low prices, the service there is wonderful. All the people there are very friendly and are always up to chat with customers. There are tables both inside and out in front, and it is a small enough space that their friendliness can even extend to become a sort of extra meal companion.
Doners are the kind of food that you will find yourself craving, a lot. During our time there, a stop at Donkebab was a regular part of every day, we couldn’t go without it. I’m sure the same will happen to anyone that visits this wonderful establishment.
