This article is going to describe all the great amusement parks found in Orlando, Florida. It will include Universal Studios, as well as the Disneyworld parks: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Enjoy!
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS: The Orlando location is very different from its partner in Southern California. Orlando’s is filled with many more high speed rollercoasters, but still incorporates fun movie themes, similar to the California version. Among the best rides are the Incredible Hulk and the Dueling Dragons. The incredible Hulk is a regular style rollercoaster, complete with extreme speeds and drops, that is great for a thrill. The Dueling Dragons is even more intense. It consists of two tracks, one blue (Ice Dragon) and one red (Fire Dragon). Both are the type of coaster where your feet hang freely, there is no bottom other than your seat. The peak of the thrill comes when the two tracks go directly at each other, then suddenly flip up into loops. They are coordinated so that both coasters reach this point at the same time, which adds an extra level of excitement. Among the similarities is the Jurassic Park ride, which possesses a large drop into a river, so make use of the parkas.
MAGIC KINGDOM: The Magic Kingdom is part of the Disneyworld resort and is the most famous park. This is so because it is the one that is home to the Disney classics, such as: Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and It’s A Small World. Magic Kingdom is the one part of Disneyworld that is as absolute must-visit, just based on the history and fame. It’s a great place to spend a day and, like all the Disney parks, is just a short bus ride from the resort hotels, as well as all the other Disney parks.
ANIMAL KINGDOM: The Animal Kingdom, though less well-known, is another great member of the Disneyworld family. It is home to several great attractions, two of which especially stand out. These two are Expedition Everest and the Kali River Rapids. Expedition Everest is a relatively new rollercoaster that has an exciting Mount Everest/Yeti theme to it. It’s a lot of fun and definitely more intense than most rides at Disney. The Kali River Rapids is a river rafting style ride that is tons of fun, and a great way to cool off on a hot day. Again, it can be reached using the Disney bus system that connects all of its parks and hotels.
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS: This is an especially fun park in the Disneyworld family. Found in this park are plenty of very fun attractions, including: the Hollywood Tower of Terror, the Rockin Roller Coaster, and the audience participation Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The Tower of Terror is a ride based totally on a malfunctioning, haunted elevator and has lots of turbulent drops from extremely high places. The Rockin Roller Coaster is more commonly known as “the Aerosmith rollercoaster”. It is infused with Aerosmith’s music and has extremely fast acceleration and tons of high speed dips and turns. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is actually the same as the television show itself. Anyone can play and everyone has a chance to make it into the “Hot Seat”. Yet again, let me remind you that this is part of the completely interconnected bus system at Disneyworld.
EPCOT: Finally, there is Epcot, Disneyworld’s tribute to the world. Well known for the giant golf ball at the entrance, Epcot is an excellent place to visit, despite the fact that there really are no rides, except for the one inside the giant golf ball, which moves extremely slow and chronicles the evolution of technology throughout time. Epcot is split up into different sections, each one dedicated to a different part of the world. Each section has the architecture and food of the geographical area they represent. Also, in each section, there is at least one fancier restaurant which requires a reservation at least one day in advance. However there are also tons of smaller, faster food places in each section. It’s very interesting, very tasty, and very fun. Also, my recommendation would be to go to the smaller, faster sushi restaurant in the Japan Pavilion. It is exquisite. For the final time, Epcot can also be reached on the Disney bus system.
This concludes our tour of Orlando amusement parks. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and I hope I’ve given you some good ideas for your next trip.
